Las preguntas: ¿Quién está?

¿Quién está? funciona como ¿Qué hay? (Lección 97):

WHO'S THERE? (¿Quién está?)
- Who's there? - Susan and Tom. / Susan and Tom are here.	- ¿Quién está (ahí)? - Susan y Tom. / Susan y Tom están aquí.
- Who's at the door? - It's the postman.	- ¿Quién está a la puerta? - Es el cartero.
- Who's on the phone? - It's your brother.	- ¿Quién está al teléfono? - Es tu hermano.
- Who's on the list? - Everybody.	- ¿Quién está en la lista? - Todo el mundo.
- Who's next? - I am.	- ¿Quién es el próximo? / ¿A quién le toca? - Yo. / A mí.
- Who else is there? - Oh, lots of people.	- ¿Quién más hay? / ¿Quién más está allí? - Oh, mucha gente.

Algunas observaciones

Usamos that para identificar a una persona que vemos (Lecciones 29, 118), pero it (nunca contraído) cuando contestamos a la puerta o al portero automático:

WHO'S THAT? (para identificar)	WHO IS IT? (puerta/portero automático)
Vemos a un hombre a lo lejos y decimos: - Who's that? ~~- Who is it?~~ - It's Richard Cook. ~~- He's Richard Cook~~ - ¿Quién es (aquél)? - Es Richard Cook.	Llaman al timbre y repondemos: - Who is it? ~~- Who's it?~~ - It's me! - ¿Quién es? - ¡Soy yo!
